INFORMATION REGARDING CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS AND OPTIONS
There are currently three options for graduates to pursue certification as a legal nurse
consultant, that we have knowledge of. Below are listed the three certifying bodies. Canyon
College does not recommend one avenue of certification over another. The choice to pursue
certification is an individual choice, and the selection of a certifying agency is a personal
choice, as well.
This information is provided as a means to inform only. Graduates must contact any or all of the
certifying organizations below on their own. Canyon College does not assist in making any types
of contacts.
The American College of Legal Nurse Consulting - (ACLNC). This certifying organization is
a division of the American Institute of Healthcare Professionals, a non-profit, professional
organization. The American College of Legal Nurse Consulting offers a certification for qualified
candidates. The College also offers a "Fellowship" program in legal nurse consulting. Our
certificate program in legal nurse consulting has been reviewed and granted approval status by
the ACLNC, and graduates qualify for certification by the ACLNC. Graduates who achieve
certification uses the initials "LNC-CSp."

American Legal Nurse Consultant Certification Board - this board was established by the
American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. They offer a certification process and
examination in legal nurse consulting. Examinations are given in many locations throughout the
US. Those who achieve certification use the initials "LNCC." You can contact them directly to
receive information, including eligibility criteria for their certification process.

Medical-Legal Consulting Institute, Inc. - the institute is located in Houston, Texas.
They offer a certification process for legal nurse consulting. They also offer educational
courses in legal nurse consulting. Those who achieve certification may use the initials, "CLNC."

eligibility requirements.

APPROVED CONTACT HOURS/CEU'S - The certificate program in Legal Nurse Consulting has been
approved for 90 contact hours of continuing education by the American Institute of Healthcare
Professionals, Inc., through its division, "The Center for Continuing Professional Education."
Graduates of our certificate program can contact the American Institute of Healthcare
Professionals, Inc, (AIHCP) and receive a formal certificate detailing achievement of contact
hours.
The AIHCP is a non-profit organization dedicated to the growth and support of quality health
care practice. Its division, the Center for Continuing Professional Education reviews and
approves continuing education programs in healthcare, according to standards and criteria for
quality healthcare education programs that offer a significant contribution to participants.
