Course Objectives
  1. The student will be able to describe the importance of licensure and certification in the nursing profession.
  2. The student will be able to describe the components three nursing models, including: definitions of the terms and assumptions within the model; a statement of the purpose of a nursing model; and a list of four common model concepts.
  3. The student will be able to demonstrate understanding of the ethical decision-making algorithm.
  4. The student will be able to define informed consent, delegation, living will.
  5. The student will be able to describe the cultural assessment process by listing the key aspects of this type of assessment.
  6. The student will be able to describe the importance of involvement by nurses in healthcare legislation.
  7. The student will be able to list three main issues in health care delivery today.
  8. The student will be able to define functional nursing, team nursing, primary care nursing and modular nursing.
