COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Accounting is the language of business. It provides information to managers, owners, investors, governmental agencies, and others inside and outside the organization. It is a system that measures the activities of a business in financial terms.

These include, but are not limited to, reading assignments, discussions with the faculty mentor, case studies, research paper, journal article reviews, essays, critical thinking and analysis of the subject matter and examinations.

Assignments / Course Grade:

Your grade for the course will be based upon demonstrating that you have met the learning outcomes for the course. This consists of completing the Mini Practice Set for Chapters 1 – 5 and Mini Practice Set for Chapters 6 – 8 and the Achievement Tests for Chapters 1 – 8.

Check figures for each problem are presented in the textbook in the left-hand margin and the complete solutions to selected problems are provided for your reference. In the Syllabus labeled Solutions to Group ‘A’ problems from textbook.”

Achievement Tests are to be submitted according to specific chapter divisions. This is designed in order that ongoing feedback can be provided to learners. We have learned that feedback to learns, via comments on assignments, enhances the learning process, and fosters favorable learner/faculty relationships.

Each Achievement Test is worth 100 points, for an overall of 400 points.

C     479 – 420 points
D     419 – 360 points
