Course Overview:
This course will give the student an understanding of how insurance companies operate and how they are regulated. It will give the student an overview of Insurance Operations, Insurance Regulation, Insurance Marketing, Underwriting, Underwriting Property Insurance, Underwriting Liability Insurance, Ratemaking, The Claim Function, Property Claim Adjusting, Liability Claim Adjusting, Reinsurance, Insurer Financial Statements, Interpreting Insurer Financial Statements, Insurer Financial Management, and Insurer Strategic Management and Global Operations.

Week 1: Read Chapters 1 & 2 in text. Complete Matching Exercise
Week 2: Read Chapters 3 & 4 in text. Complete Matching Exercise
Week 3: Read Chapters 5 & 6 in text. Complete Matching Exercise
Week 4: Read Chapters 7 & 8 in text. Complete Matching Exercise

Week 5: Review and Midterm Exam: Multiple Choice and True-False covering Chapters 1 through 8.

Week 6: Read Chapters 9 & 10 in text. Complete Matching Exercise
Week 7: Read Chapters 11 & 12 in text. Complete Matching Exercise
Week 8: Read Chapters 13 & 14 in text. Complete Matching Exercise
Week 9: Read Chapters 15 in text. Complete Matching Exercise

Week 10: Review and Final Exam: Multiple Choice and True-False covering Chapters 9 through 15.

All assignments must be submitted to the instructor no later that 5 PM (CST) on each Sunday of the week.

Grading: 20% of the grade will come from the weekly assignments and 80% from the Mid-term and Final exams, equally.

The course should take 10 weeks to complete, but must be completed within 12 weeks of an agreed starting date.
