Student Biography
Once you start the class, send me an informal (this is not graded) biography about yourself, your background, career, etc. Make sure to include your contact information including phone number and email address so that I can contact you if necessary.

Proficiency Examination (final)
The proficiency exam will be a cumulative testing of your knowledge of multinational business. You will be presented with a case study for which you will prepare a summary of an international marketing strategy. The strategy should be between six (6) and ten (10) pages in length, and profile all of the key decisions a manager would face given the situation. In essence, the answer should follow the form of a business or marketing plan, but can be more descriptive in its prose. Submit your examination according to the guidelines listed below.

Cultural Differences Report
You will prepare a report that profiles the differences that an American business person should be aware of when dealing with people of a specific country or culture. You may pick any target country or culture to profile. Focus on the socio-cultural differences that American managers must understand (i.e. language, personal and business customs, politics, laws, monetary system and so forth). This report should be 3-5 pages in length and is due after lesson 4.

Professional Team Report
You will identify the key constituents that can aid you in any import and/or export transaction. Your report should include the following: freight forwarder, customs broker, international bank, shipping company, and insurer. Your report should include the name and contact information of the company, as well as a brief description of why you chose them. This report will be 1-2 pages in length and due after lesson 6.

International Trade Opportunity Report
In this report, you will identify an import or export business opportunity. Discuss the product or service, why this opportunity exists, and how you will go about orchestrating the deal. Thus, the report should specify all of the details necessary to make the deal happen. In essence, the report should be complete enough that someone could bring the opportunity to fruition following your instructions. This report will be 8-10 pages in length and due at the end of the course. Note: because of the depth of this report, students are recommended to begin their research on this project early in the course.

Submission of Assignments
Because this is a graduate level course, all written material should be properly documented. Beyond documentation, you can submit your assignments in any attractive and readable format. Written assignments can be submitted either by email (you can send it as an MS-Word97, ASCII text, or RTF attachment), or by FAX.
