Course Description:
What exactly is successful management in today's environment? What is expected of a manager? How
does a manager function? How is a manager graded on performance? Do different organizational
structures require different management styles? Questions like these are endless. This course
examines management in a manner, which will enable students to assess and develop answers to
these questions.

and the management internal and external environment.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS/COURSE GRADE:
Your grade for this course will be based upon mastery of course concepts as demonstrated by successfully completing the following performance requirements
Please select three (3) of the following (6) questions and prepare (3) pages per question... All work must be totally yours and if you should utilize outside sources please provide the appropriate references.
What do you think are some of the physical and Psychological factors that directly and indirectly affect the workplace?
Can you “Teach an old dog new tricks”? In the organization? How?
What are the some of the successful strategies and technologies that can be utilized to conduct performance appraisals of employees
Discuss some of the changing social values that affect today’s workplace. How should they be dealt with by management?
Is the future of traditional organizations in the working environment “bright” or “depressing”? Why?
Compare and contrast the e-commerce” components of today with the “traditional companies”.
Your response must be complete, using terminology and concepts presented in the primary textbook. Your responses should also demonstrate how you’ve applied or could apply the material in your own experiences
Final Project:
The final project for this course is based on the material presented in the primary text. Completion of the final project (due at the end of the eighth week)
Select several chapters in the text that have particular relevance to you because of present or past work experience. Using the list of
Learning objectives that are found on the title page for each chapter , prepare a paper that describes what effect the accomplishments of those learning objectives has or would have had in your work experience , .your paper should be 10 to 12 pages in length (typed double spaced ,12 font, one inch margins
Submitting your term assignment and final project:
Your responses to the term assignments and final project should be submitted directly to your faculty mentor. A graded and critiqued copy of your work will be returned to you
Course Learning Assessment:
Learners are expected to complete all performance requirements for the course and to demonstrate
mastery of the course concepts and course learning outcomes through response to mid term questions
and the final project. This will require learners to use library resources and the Internet and to
document research with citations, bibliographies, and references as applicable in completing their
coursework.
In addition to traditional research, mastery of course concepts may require demonstration of course
concepts, critical thinking, and communication skills by individual insights and perceptions.
