COURSE SYLLABUS:  Open Systems Networking

Course Title: ITN468 – Open Systems Networking
Department: Computer Science and Information Technology
Instructor: Dr. Soly Mathew Biju, M.S., Ph.D. in Computer Science - E-mail | Vita

Course Description:

In this course we will cover Open Systems Interconnection and the Internet Architecture and protocols. It will cover the bases for understanding how OSI and TCP/IP work. We will also see how they might peacefully and productively coexist in complex, multiprotocol internets, today and tomorrow. It will enable the system designer to understand the way in which OSI and TCP/IP systems work and the way in which a specific set of concepts and terminology is used to define the protocols. This course will also help anyone who has a fundamental understanding of data communication and networking to understand and apply the principles and protocols of ISO and TCP/IP to satisfy real-world computer-networking requirements.

The time frame for this course is eight (8) weeks.
