Course Description:

The role of victims in crimes, their treatment by the criminal justice system, their decisions to report crimes and help prosecute offenders, victim assistance, and victim compensation.

Course Requirements:

The final grade will be based on written chapter reviews a student has to prepare on each chapter of material read (70%) and on a research paper (30%)

Academic Dishonesty:

Any form of academic dishonesty is regarded as a very serious violation of college regulations. Any student suspected of engaging in such activity will be subject to the full set of procedures set forth by the college.

Chapter Reviews:

Once a student finishes reading a chapter of material, the student has to prepare a typewritten (double-spaced) review of that chapter.

That review must:
Complete the Crime Victims textbook first, then proceed on to the second textbook Victimology.

Read one chapter at a time in Crime Victims: An Introduction to Victimology, create a review analysis per instructions above, and e-mail the review to the professor. Next, do the same with the second textbook Victimology: A study of Crime Victims and their Roles.
