Particular attention will be focused on the main legal families in terms of the structure and sources of their various laws and against the historical background in which these laws were formed.

Course Requirements:

The final grade will be based on completion of on-line quizzes (30% of the grade) and writing assignments (70% of the grade). These require the student to demonstrate an understanding of the materials used in class.

Academic Dishonest:

Any form of academic dishonesty is regarded as a very serious violation of college regulations. Any student suspected of engaging in such activity will be subject to the full set of procedures set forth by the college.

Testing:

Students must take a twenty question multiple-choice quiz (timed: 50 minutes) after completing a chapter of the material; there will be six open-book quizzes.

Writing Assignments:

Students will have to complete a writing assignment for each chapter; these short writing assignments constitute 70% of a student's final grade. Students will receive a description about the topic of each assignment at the beginning of the semester. Each student's submission must be double-spaced and at least ten pages in length.
