Course Description:

This course is a comprehensive covering of the human resource functions occurring at a central office or school district level. Practical information is given on the areas that will affect staff, in a wide variety of laws, responsibilities, and authority structures.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Be able to describe the structural framework of public education as it relates to the human resources administration function.
  2. Be able to explain the role and function of human resources professionals.
  3. Be able to explain how human resources needs can be assessed and what steps can be taken to have the right people in the right jobs at the right time.
  4. Be able to describe methods of recruitment.
  5. Be able to describe the steps in the selection of personnel process that will ensure the effective hiring of the best candidates.
  6. Be able to describe "best practice" for the induction of personnel.
