There is no assigned text book. I will provide weekly lectures and you will be reviewing internet sites.

Course Description:

This course is designed to provide information regarding administration and community relations specifically in education. In this course you will develop an understanding of specific issues that relate to community relations in the administration of education.

Academic Honesty:

Both Canyon College and I trust that each student will maintain high standards of honesty and ethical behavior. All assignments submitted in fulfillment of course requirements must be the student's own work. Where outside sources are used as references, work submitted must be identified and appropriately cited.

Submission of Work:

This course is divided into six units. Each unit contains a lecture, web reading and one paper. Please spell and grammar check your paper before sending. Double space your work. Put your name, the name of the course and the date of submission at the beginning of your submission.

Please send each unit as a whole - There are no examinations in this course. Your learning will be evaluated through your practical application of the theory in your written work. To ensure that you receive full point value, use specific rather than general examples in your papers.

Unit 1	Education Administration - overview
	Assignment:	Read the lecture posted. Search the internet for one site relevant to this specific week’s information. Review it. Write a 300 word paper discussing the process of education administrate at the state level in your home state. Use the internet site as your reference. Submit in APA format.

Unit 2	Community Relations - overview
	Assignment:	Read the lecture posted. Web Assignment: Search the Web and find one web site discussing this topic and review it– send the web address and two paragraphs over viewing the web site. Write a 500 word paper discussing the process of community relations in education Looking forward, how do you think it will benefit the educational system in general.

Unit 3	The power of Public Relations in Educational Administration
	Assignment:	Read the lecture posted. Review your state's educational web site once more. Write a two paragraph review of the information offered on that site as it relates to Public Relations. Write a 600 word paper discussing the process Public Relations offered from the web site you reviewed. Indicate whether or not you feel the site is effective in its Public Relations efforts.

Unit 4	Creativity in Public Relations and Administration
	Assignment:	Read the lecture posted. Web Assignment: Search the Web and find one web site creativity in public relations. Write at least two paragraphs about this site. Write a 600 word paper discussing the value of creativity. If you identify negatives in the use of creativity in Public Relations in regard to Education, indicate why you believe that.

Unit 5	Laying the groundwork for your Public Relations
	Assignment:	Read the lecture posted. Identify the web site that discusses the use of Public Relations in other areas. Look for similarities and differences from education PR. Write a 3 paragraph paper briefly discussing these. Write a 700 word paper discussing how you would lay effective groundwork, as an Educational Administrator, in Public Relations.

Unit 6	Developing and implementing your own strategy
	Assignment:	Read the lecture posted. Locate an article on the web discussing implementation of Public Relations in education. Submit a 1200 word personal paper outlining a basic strategy that you would use to develop and implement a successful public relations strategy as an Educational Administrator. Include the overall benefits of your strategy.
