COURSE COMMENTARY

Each candidate enrolled in this course has up to eight weeks to complete the assignments indicated below. However, a candidate may elect to accelerate his/her course of study and finish the research paper at an earlier time without permission from the instructor.

The assigned paper will be broken into two critical parts. After completion of the first segment comprising of chapters 1-8, you will submit your introduction to the research and your claim. After receiving feedback and direction from the instructor, you will proceed by reading chapters 9-14 of the text and complete the research paper.

Utilizing the text as a blueprint, the candidate should submit their final draft in publishable quality. The length of the final research publication must be limited to 4-6 pages, double spaced, 12 point font. In addition, a bibliography must be included (APA is the suggested format).

Further, the instructor will welcome early submissions of the completed final draft and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement, if necessary. This allows the candidate to feel confident in the writing process.

While your topic is subjective to your own educational interests and experiences, the following framework must be adopted.
  1. A substantial research base of scholarly sources (numbering between three to eight)
  2. A profound, unambiguous, and relevant claim that is clearly stated
  3. Research and commentary (the body of your paper) must warrant your claim and must adhere strictly to the proposed claim
  4. A conclusion that is summative and restates and addresses your claim
This paper is worth a total of 100 points. Thirty (30) points will be allocated upon completion of first segment of the course. The remaining seventy (70) points will comprise the final paper.
