Course Policies
On-Line Etiquette
On-line etiquette will be observed, including courtesy to all users. Please note that typing in all caps is considered to be shouting and rude. Typing without proper use of caps (beginning sentence and proper name) is considered lazy.
On-Line Participation
Students are expected to utilize information available on the Internet to enhance learning, since this course is offered over the Internet. It is important to plan study time carefully. Students are expected to sign into the class conference forum each week, and send required assignments to the instructor by the due dates.
The class conference forum serves as the student's "virtual classroom." Participation in discussions equates to classroom participation.
E-mail questions to the instructor and/or other students.
Class Schedule and Due Dates
A class week is defined as Monday through Sunday. All assignments are to be submitted to the instructor via e-mail by the end of the day Sunday, according to your own time zone. If a student needs to fax or mail an assignment, arrangements must be made in advance with the instructor, and due dates will apply. The student is to understand that all assignments received past the due date will receive a grade score penalty, unless the instructor has given prior authorization for a time extension.
The student will receive confirmation from the instructor within 72 hours of receipt of an assignment. It is the student's responsibility to follow-up with the instructor if such confirmation is not received within 72 hours
Instructor Feedback on Assignments
Instructor feedback will be provided on all assignments within one week of receipt. Detailed comments and a score will be included. Specific concerns regarding a student's progress will be address by the instructor. If the student has questions about their progress, he / she may address them to the instructor
Instructions for Submitting Assignments
Students may submit assignments in MS Word (preferably Arial font), Excel or PowerPoint. If you do not use MS Office products, please save as .rtf file prior to submission. Please send them as an e-mail note or file attachment. If an assignment is received in a format that the instructor is unable to open, the assignment will be returned to the student for reformatting. Assignments must be received by the instructor in a readable format by the due date, or a grade score penalty may be applied.
All submissions shall include the student's full name, address, e-mail address, the course title and the assignment title.
Note: All assignments must be submitted virus free. Students will be given one opportunity to resubmit
assignment prior to grade penalty being applied.
Due Date: The instructor must receive weekly assignments not later than Sunday midnight (your time zone) of the week assigned. Late work will incur a point penalty at the discretion of the instructor. Students who anticipate that their schedule may cause assignments to be out of compliance with this policy are advised to make alternative arrangements with the instructor at least one week in advance.
This course is intended to be completed within an eight (8)-week period.
Academic Honesty
All work must be the student's own work. Whenever outside sources are referenced, the source should be clearly identified. Canyon College policies are in effect. Presenting the words or ideas of another without clearly identifying the source is considered plagiarism, and will not be tolerated.
Absentee Policy
This course is designed to be completed within an eight-(8) week period, through independent study. It is expected that contact with the instructor will occur at least once each academic week. If there is no contact for more than two academic weeks, the instructor will notify the school to determine if the student intends to continue with the course.
