PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:

This course is an introduction to evidence law. It is not designed for those planning a career as an attorney, but rather is designed for those planning a career as a paralegal professional. Evidence law varies significantly from state to state. The course is designed to provide an introduction to the most prevalent evidence law theories and authorities.

REQUIREMENTS: Online Book Store
  1. Readings. There are three required texts.
    The primary text is Evidence Law in the Trial Process, by Margaret T. Stopp, J.D. The text is published by West Legal Studies. ISBN #: 031412909X
    The second text is Evidentiary Foundations, Fifth Edition, by Edward J. Imwinkelried. The text is published by LexisNexis.ISBN #: 0820554170
    The third text is Federal Rules of Evidence with Objections, by Anthony J. Bocchino and David A. Sonenshein. The text is published by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. ISBN #: 155681710X
  1. Exams/Papers. Students will be required to complete one exam/paper for each of the ten units. The exam/paper will consist of questions pertaining to the text and related assigned material.
  1. Grades. Course work will be weighted as follows:
