Course Objective:

Upon the completion of this course, the student will have a working knowledge of family law and its practice. This course will provide a good historic overview of family law. This course will also focus on the major topical areas of family law in an easy-to-read and understandable format.

Course purpose:

This course is designed to provide students with an increased understanding of family law. The course introduction will commence with a background and history of the law and various legal philosophies. This course will cover the legal aspects of marriage, divorce, paternity, adoption, child-support, child-neglect and abuse and many other aspects of family law.

Method:
  1. Assigned reading assignments.
  2. E-mail correspondence one on one with the instructor at least once during the eight week course. Please submit the following information to the instructor as soon as possible: name, e-mail address, user name, course expectations, brief work experience, educational background and any special interests you may have and wish to share.
  3. Message board participation for individual and group discussions are available upon request.
  4. Class room (chat room) discussions are also possible if desired.
  5. Exams: Midterm and Final. Each exam is worth 40% of the final course grade.
  6. NOTE: The assigned reading assignments are worth 10% of the final course grade.
