COURSE OVERVIEW: I am happy to provide you with information and instructions regarding
this course. As you know, you have a time limit to complete this course. The time limit follows
the College's policy for course time completion at the graduate level.
This is an exciting course and I am sure you will learn some of the most interesting principles
related to the specialty of Pathology and its application to practice as a Doctor of Naturapathic
Health Care. After successful completion of the course, you will have a much greater
understanding of the pathological issues that are applicable to the delivery of health care
services, as well as some of the most current and pressing issues in care delivery.
This course is a graduate level course. It is formatted to be self-directed, along with one-on-
one mentoring by faculty. As your instructor, you and I communicate throughout your time spent
in this important study. Communication can be by the internal mail system and fax. As a graduate
level course, you must be prepared to operationalize the concepts learned into the reality of
today's health care environment. The readings in the text, the analysis of case studies supplied
in the text, our discussions, and your weekly assignments will assist in meeting this broad based
goal.
You will find the text book for this course to be one of the best available for the study of
Pathology at the graduate level. It is packed with information.

SUMMARY: This course is a graduate course for students in the ND program in Naturopathic
Health Care. This is a intermediate level pathology course that focuses on the many principles
and theories of the pathology as it relates to health care delivery. The course allows students
to progress through from cell pathology to diseases of organ systems. Students follow the course
and chapter objectives and proceed to higher levels of understanding of the principles of
pathology. Some of the topics/subjects covered include; cellular pathology, neoplasia, the skin,
and the central nervous system. Learning will provide students with the necessary foundation to
progress to the next course level.
The course is formatted as an online course. There is a midterm and a final examination. Students
are encouraged to submit questions and discusses issues and problems in pathology with the
instructor. Reading assignments from the text book are assigned with supporting objectives.
There are weekly written responses to related questions that are to be turned into the instructor
as detailed below.

EXAMINATIONS: there are two examinations for this course. There is a mid-term examination
and a final examination. The examinations are objective and subjective. The examinations are
"open" book. They thoroughly test knowledge in key areas of course content. While open book, they
require thought and knowledge of the related content for successful completion.
Both examinations are taken "online." The examinations are accessed through the website for
Canyon College. When you are ready to take the examinations, please imail me directly and request
authorization to take your exam. I will in turn notify the College that you may have exam access.
You will receive n notice from the College's administrative offices that you are permitted to
have access to the examination.
When you are ready to take the examinations, access the website, and take the examination. The
examinations are graded after completion and you will be notified almost immediately of your
score.
Please plan to take the midterm exam by the end of the week of the "mid" week of the course. The
final examination must be taken by the last day of the final week of the course.
GRADE ASSIGNMENT FOR EXAMINATIONS:
You will receive a letter grade, based on your over all score achievement. The grading scale is
as follows:
90% - 100%

You will receive a letter grade for each examination. Your final course grade will be a computer
average of the scores you achieve on both examinations.
I will imail you your score and letter grade for each of the examinations, as well as your final
average score and final letter grade for the course.
READING ASSIGNMENTS: your reading assignments are self-paced. The reading assignment
schedule is as follows:
Read Chapters 1-11 in your text book. Following reading and studying of Chapters 1-11, you may
proceed to take the Mid-term examination. You should have completed the reading for Chapters 1-11
by the mid point in the course.
Read Chapters 12-31 in your text book. After you have completed the Midterm examination, please
proceed to Chapters 12-31 in your text book. You should complete the readings for Chapters 12-31
by the last week of the course. After completing the readings and study for Chapters 12-31, you
may proceed to take the Final examination. The Final covers Chapters 1-31.
REVIEW OF OBJECTIVES: You are responsible for reviewing the objectives (provided
throughout the course) for each chapter in the text book, prior to reading and studying the
chapter. The objectives will guide you in your learning and assist you in knowledge attainment.
The objectives are provided for your benefit.

2. Review the chapter objectives in class before reading and studying each chapter.
3. After reading and studying chapters 1-11, proceed to take the midterm examination
4. After reading chapters 12-31, proceed to take the final examination
