Our Commitment To Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice
explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your
information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available
on our home page at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.
The Information We Collect:
This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the Canyon College web site.
On some pages, you may enroll, request an assessment of life experience, and order services
and/or make a request for further information. The types of personal information collected on
various pages are:
Name
Address
Email address
Phone number
Previous and Current Educational Information
Previous and Current Employment Information
Credit/Debit Card Information
[Etc.]
How We Use Information:
Enrollment Application/APPLE Form: We use the information you provide about yourself
when enrolling in Canyon College to maintain in your student file and to complete the
appropriate assessments as may be necessary to determine your eligibility, acceptance and/or
the requirements you must meet in order to complete your program of study pursuant your
enrollment request. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent
necessary to complete that enrollment and as stated within the enrollment application and/or
the Assessment Portfolio for Previous Life Experience (APPLE Form).
Request for Information Form: We use the information, furnished by you, to respond to
various questions you may have regarding Canyon College and the programs that are offered.
We do not share this information with outside parties.
Secure Merchant Account Form: Information collected on this secure server, which uses
SSL (128 bit encryption) to safeguard your credit card or checking account information, and is
used to process the online payment transaction only. This information is processed by our bank.
We use return e-mail addresses to answer the e-mail we receive and for communication purposes
with our enrolled students. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not
shared with outside parties unless requested by the student through the use of a Release of
Information form provided by the student and as may be indicated below.
We require third parties, such as employers or other colleges and universities you may apply to
later, to provide evidence in the form of a Release of Information Form if requesting
information contained on your transcripts. The Release of Information you provide should contain
specifically what information you wish released to the third party
contact, including the organization and address where to send the information along with your
full name, address, signature and date which the document was completed.
Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in
ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out
or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
Our Commitment To Data Security
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of
information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures
to safeguard and secure the information we collect through online.
Our Commitment To Children's Privacy:
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never
collect or maintain information at our web site from those we actually know are under 17, and no
part of our web site is structured to attract anyone under 18 years of age.
How You Can Access Or Correct Your Information:
You can access all your personally identifiable information that we collect through the online
forms and maintain by submitting a request for information by e-mail to the Registrar at
registrar@canyoncollege.edu. You will be
required to furnish in the body of the request the following identifiable information: Name,
Address, Date of Birth, Telephone Number and E-mail Address, along with the specific information
you would like to access or correct. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information.
You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a
request that credibly shows error. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take
reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections as
indicated in the previous paragraph.
