Overview:

This course provides students an introduction to the subject of abnormal psychology as defined by the DSM-IV- Text Revision. The major models of abnormal psychology—psychological, biological and sociological -will be reviewed. Current treatment approaches will be briefly reviewed. Multicultural, legal and ethical issues will be presented. Students will be encouraged to think critically about the topic and apply definitions to “real life” examples.

Final Paper Requirements:

Please pick a topic of your choice from our reading during the course. You must submit your proposed topic to me for approval by week 4. I will not accept and papers with topics that have not been approved.

The paper should be 3-5 pages, APA style with title page, reference list and in text citations.

you will need to have 3 sources of information (not including our text).

This paper must be submitted by week 8 in order to complete the course.
