Course Description

Upon completion of this course, students will have an understanding of the prevalence, assessment and treatment interventions of ADHD in the school system.

Course Objectives

This course is intended to help school-based professionals understand the challenges that students with ADHD have in a school setting. ADHD is a common and complex disorder and this course will enlighten social workers on how to provide support to the student, the school and the families.

Additional Information
Final Paper

This will be due by the end of the course and can be turned in early if reading assignments are completed earlier than scheduled. This will be short paper 3-5 pages about what you learned in this course and how you intend to implement this in your practice in social work. Whether you work in a school, health, clinical or child protective service setting, this is a disorder that you will encounter. If desired, you can use a “real case” example that you have encountered or have currently on your caseload and discuss how you would implement what you have learned in this course.
