3. Contact the instructor for the first assignment.
4. The assignments will consist of reading, researching, and writing.

Important Note:

Keep in mind that graduate level classes at a traditional university require extensive work to complete. For each 3 credit class, a student spends at least 3 hours per week in class and is expected to spend a minimum of 9 hours study time per week outside of class. Thus, the minimum time to complete a 3 credit class is 144 semester hours. If a student wants to complete the class in 8 weeks, it will require 18 hours per week.

This class is a 3 credit graduate level class. It is different from a traditional university in that there is less “lecture”. I have reading material that I will send you along with the reading assignments from the texts. You will be required to research information from the internet and/or the given references. You will be working on your own at your own pace. One of the reasons some students choose online learning because it is often perceived as “easier” than traditional education. Perhaps this course won’t take you as long, but please remember that you will get out of the class what you put into it. Many of us have families and jobs in addition to completing course work. This is extremely difficult! With commitment, you will be able to complete the course work in 6-8 weeks; however some students may need an extension.

In my own studies and teaching, I have found that doing research and completing projects or writing papers is a much more effective learning method than answering questions on a test. This also makes them more difficult to grade. I will read your assignments and offer feedback and ask questions. Each assignment will have criteria for grading; it is relatively easy to earn an A.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, concerns or comments. I want this class to be a worthwhile learning experience. I am here to facilitate your learning.
