Upon completion of the course, students will demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics of the relationship
between the counselor and the client. Of particular importance, the student will gain awareness of the inherent
subjectivity and limitations of the diagnostic process. Students will also learn how to use the evaluation process to
be empowering and helpful to clients.
Course Purpose:
This course is designed for people who want to deepen their knowledge of clinical evaluation. This course will
present issues and concern related to clinical evaluations in counseling. The material presented will focus on
client-centered approaches to the evaluative process.

Grading
The course grading will be based on responses to weekly discussion questions, a quiz, a midterm exam, a final
exam and a paper. The points will be distributed as follow.
