Course Description:
This course is an introduction to Seasonal syndromes that many people experience and which they are not aware
of. This course will discuss Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD); its history, cause, effects and treatments.
Course Purpose:
This course will address this particular form of Depression and Bipolar. SAD is considered a mood disorder and
effects men, women and children. We will look at the possible causes and various treatments which have been
successful in treating SAD.
Course Objective:
By learning more about SAD, symptoms and treatments this gives the professional a better understanding of cause/
effect and being able to identify it within the general population, including children. This course is an additional
counseling tool and covers basic treatments to utilize for your clients.

The final course grade: Is a percentage of earned points to the total points possible for the course. The total points
possible for this course is 75. Extra credit points require authorization from the instructor.

how to take the exam when access to the midterm has been authorized)

Week 8 - Final Exam - covers Part III & IV only ( Points possible - 25)
Paper: Due any time during the course, but must be in before a final grade will be given.
Select a client (mythical or actual).
Write a case study indicating symptoms, treatment and effects of treatment using the PIE format (P - problem
I - intervention E - effects of treatment)
The case study should cover at least three sessions with the client. Intake information should be included in the
first session and include the diagnosis.
The paper must be 3 to 7 pages in length
Use at least 5 references (only 2 can be from the text book)
The total points possible for this paper is 20. Points will be deducted in areas of clarity of paper information,
organization, punctuation, spelling and not enough references.
