Course Objective:
Upon completion of this course, the student will have an understanding of both attending to the clients' personal problems and resolving social issues that will prevent these problems from occurring in the first place. This course will also focus on the importance of the social work profession maintaining a balance between two major functions; which are, helping people to interact more effectively with the world around them and working to change that world to prevent problems and improve the quality of life for all.

Course Purpose:
This course is designed to help the student appreciate the relevance of social work to today's social issues.
