Course Objective:
Upon completion of this course the student will have an understanding of the diversification in America and the evolution into tomorrow. The student will also be able to understand the origin and challenges pluralism presents.
Course Purpose:
This course will address cultural and ethnic history, accomplishments, current challenges and future movements. The course will make students aware of cultural and ethnic differences, understanding and facing problems, becoming more aware of self-attitudes and possibilities in overcoming challenges and finding solutions for a better tomorrow.

Two exams - a Midterm exam and a Final exam
Note:
Email and Test program are the only ‘tools’ used. All assignments and paper requirements are on this syllabus. I do not use the Chat rooms and other tools available to teaching staff.
I use only the Webmail provided by Canyon College. Be sure to know how to access your email.
‘Office’ days are Tuesday and Wednesday. I do not have any particular time of availability. I answer email on those days. Occasionally I will be gone and will either answer email on a different day or arrange for another Professor to substitute for me.
Paper: (20 Points)
The paper topic must be selected from one (1) Chapter Review Question at the end of any chapter in your text book. I will pre-approve the Chapter Review Question if requested.
The paper should be in APA format. I will accept other formats but prefer APA.
The paper must be at least 5 pages without including introduction or reference pages. Spaces are acceptable that are already built into your writing program.
At least 5 references must be used other than the text book or course material.
References can be from articles, books, magazines, periodicals, etc.
References should not be older than 5 years.
Must be submitted by the 6th week of the course. You may turn it in early without penalty.
Five (5) points will be deducted for each week it is late unless special arrangements have been made. No paper will be accepted after the 8th Week.
Points are deducted for grammar, spelling, overall neatness and presentation, and non-compliance to the above paper specifications. Points deducted are the discretion of the Professor.
