Course Description:
This course will offer step-by-step, evidence-based interventions for a variety of psychological problems, as well as guidance for working with school organizations and communities. Students will learn effective interventions for students with psychological disorders or symptoms of psychological disorders. Students will also learn how to incorporate these strategies into intervention planning and in working with school organizations.
Course Objectives:
At the completion of the class, student will be able to:
Complete exams for proficiency, with a minimum of a passing grade.
Identify and learn how to efficiently implement evidence-based practices for psychological disorders in schools.
Identify prevention activities and effective techniques for at-risk youth that can be used in schools.
Understand the use of mental health classifications and the DSM IV-TR in schools.
Learn how to work with and engage families and teachers/administrators.
Learn how to identify and report child abuse or neglect in a school setting.
Understand the logistics of working as a mental health professional or educator in a school setting.
There will be two exams with multiple choice questions. All questions will come from the reading assignments. Exam I is completed after completion of the fourth week and reading material for that week, and Exam II after week 8 and the final reading material.

Exam II - 50%

80 - 89% B
70 - 79% C
60 - 69% D
59% and below Failure
Other Information
Due to security you will need to notify your instructor during "office hours" prior to taking exams so you have access when you are ready to take the test. You are only allowed to take an exam once. There is a "sample exam" you may take to practice marking your answers.
All exams are automatically timed, however I do not time them. So go slowly and read carefully. There are no "trick" questions.
After completing the exam and clicking on the submit or send button; both you and the instructor will receive a corrected graded copy of the exam via email.
