Course Objective:
Upon completion of this course, the student will have an understanding of the basic skills in psychotherapy and counseling. This course will also assist the student with the development of their knowledge of psychotherapy and counseling techniques.

Course purpose:
This course is designed to provide students with a conceptual understanding of a wide range of psychotherapy techniques. The overall purpose of this course is to increase the knowledge and skills related to individual psychotherapy and counseling to include competency in the microskills of psychotherapy and counseling.

Method:
  1. Assigned reading assignments.
  2. E-mail correspondence one on one with the instructor at least once during the eight week course. Please submit the following information to the instructor as soon as possible: name, e-mail address, user name, course expections, brief work experience, educational background and any special interests you may wish to share.
  3. Message board participation for individual and group discussion are available upon request.
  4. Class room (chat room) discussions are also possible if desired.
  5. Exams: Midterm and Final. Each exam is worth 50% of the course grade.
