The Canyon College Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security prepares students for careers in Homeland Security. It also prepares, police officers, security officers, first responders, business owners, government employees, human resource managers, and other professionals charged with employee life safety responsibilities, to deal more effectively with the threats of terrorism, workplace violence, computer crime, and other threats to the safety of people and the survivability of the organization. The program emphasizes a practical approach towards strategic security planning and asset protection.

Students in this program engage in security case studies, real world simulations, research, writing, executive presentations, portfolio development, problem solving, and practical application and security solution design activities.

All types of industries and organizations now need security management plans in place. In some cases, federal and state governments are mandating the development of security programs, plans, policies and procedures for private and public organizations. The federal government, state governments, and local governments have all placed security management as a top priority. As a result, new government security entities and entire reorganizations of security and public safety services have become widespread throughout the United States. They are all searching for affordable and convenient Homeland Security education and training!

Prerequisites:
Applicants must have completed 60 college/university semester credits, or 90 college/university quarter credits.

Graduation Requirements:
The online Bachelors of Arts in Homeland Security degree program requires completion of nineteen (19) core courses for a total of 60 credits unless the student has transferable credits and/or life credits in which case fewer courses may be required.
