Hand picked to establish the Office of Community Wellness, to support a community with a population of approximately 15,000. This totally new concept was the product of a Process Action Team (P.A.T.) recommendation, consisting of various agency directors within the community. The purpose of the office is to evaluate the services and resources available within the community. Thus, ensuring agencies were not duplicating efforts, and that costly/valuable personnel resources were not underutilized or miss utilized. The office per my recommendation would maintain a finger on the community's pulse as it examined the five dimensions of wellness and/or health in the community:Physical Wellness, Emotional Wellness, Social Wellness, Intellectual Wellness, and Spiritual Wellness. The office performs data collection, data evaluation/examination, and solution recommendations. Plus, community education in which, I published numerous articles in the local newspaper, on topics such as:

Teen/Adult Suicide Awareness

AIDs Awareness

Domestic Violence (Spouse/Child Abuse)

Parents Require Tools to Raise Teenagers to Adults

Tips on how to lose weight

Hard Facts About Teen/Adolescent Pregnancy

NOTE: Also published in the U.S. Army Medical Command Publication, MERCURY, November 1995 issue, article entitled Wardmaster's Are Unknown Work Horses.
The Office of Community Wellness initiative was abandoned due to lack of funding and change in organizational vision. Due to JCAHO preparation and managerial problems encountered within the main facility I returned to the directorship of paraprofessional staff position within the facility.
